OUR STORY
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO BIG DREAMS
IT ALL STARTED IN SHANGHAI.Hummus Goodness began halfway around the world in Shanghai, China, where founder Hannah Awada started making hummus for friends in 2017. What began with a few homemade batches quickly grew into more than 30 creative flavors—and a business called Hummus House because she was making it out of her house. Easy name!
THE PARTY that changed everything.Fast forward one year: Hannah and her family moved to Michigan—the Middle Eastern capital of the U.S., where hummus is everywhere. People asked if she’d launch a hummus brand in the States. Her answer? “Nope! Just go buy it at the store.” And that could’ve been the end of it. But it wasn’t…..
One night, Hannah and her husband were invited to a Porchetta Party. Thinking it was a porch hangout (not an Italian pork feast), she brought a big platter of hummus. Guests couldn’t stop raving—and they challenged her: “Go to the store, try the hummus there, and see if it compares.”
STARTING HUMMUS GOODNESS.After tasting all the hummus on store shelves, Hannah realized something was missing: the fresh, authentic Lebanese-style hummus she grew up eating. So she decided to make it herself.
In 2019, Hummus Goodness was born in a small church kitchen in Birmingham, Michigan, with a simple goal: make fresh, flavorful hummus using real ingredients like olive oil, lemon juice and garlic.
WHERE WE ARE TODAY.Inspired by tradition—and Hannah’s love of creating unexpected flavors—Hummus Goodness grew from that little church kitchen into the brand it is today. Along the way, Lara Lozser joined Hannah as her business partner, helping take Hummus Goodness from local favorite to a growing retail and foodservice brand.
The kitchen may be bigger now, but our philosophy hasn’t changed: Real ingredients. Bold flavors. Zero shortcuts.
QUALITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE
REAL HUMMUS. REAL INGREDIENTS.We make hummus the way Hannah grew up eating it—simple, creamy and rooted in Lebanese tradition. That means chickpeas, tahini, fresh lemon juice, garlic and, of course, olive oil. No unnecessary shortcuts. Just ingredients that belong in hummus.
MADE WITH OLIVE OIL. THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.Real Lebanese hummus has always been made with olive oil, so that’s what we use. You will never find any seed oils here. It gives our hummus the rich, smooth flavor it’s supposed to have—and keeps us true to the tradition that started it all. We don’t follow food trends. We follow tradition, darling.
Extra Goodness = extra peace of mind.We go one step further with the ingredients we source. Hummus Goodness is Glyphosate Residue Free Certified by The Detox Project, which means we don’t mess around with questionable stuff in our products, especially glyphosate — the weed-killer residue hiding in way too many foods. Because when we say goodness, we mean it.
“WE DON’T FOLLOW FOOD TRENDS. WE FOLLOW TRADITION, DARLING.”
